Globalization of markets and production as well as continuous change shows that the growing interdependence also increases the vulnerability of companies, and that interdepartmental coordinated responses have become indispensable for successful companies these days.
The growing significance of interdependence presents new challenge s and opportunities for organizations. Until now, companies have tended to address interdepartmental issues in an indirect manner, and to consider them primarily as part of each single department duties. However, greater interdependence calls for a more comprehensive and more coherent approach, as well as for solutions that are coordinated at both the intradepartmental and interdepartmental levels. From this, it follows that all policy areas directly or indirectly involved should be integrated into one single framework.
Coordinating three times a day
NoD does not infringe on existing competences. It does, however, give cross-company collaboration a more specific direction, and it improves coordination and coherence. Coherence in policy and more efficient safeguarding of interests are its overriding objectives; coordination between the players in the organization is the instrument. NoD serves as a single point of access for all actions referring to a particular area.
